SXSW Day 4

SXSW day 4 was the last day for interactive crews. It was so interesting to see how the demographic of the festival drastically shifted from one to another with the conjunction of music festival. There were so many bands/ artists walking around the town and getting ready for another 5 days of festival.

I participated in a couple of conferences and meet up sessions for some interactive events, which were highly entertaining. In between, I caught up with Matthew Lillard ( of Descendents or Screem. I've known him from Scooby-Doo series. ) He has directed a short film for the first time, called Fat Kid Rules the World. This movie is about a kid who lost a place to be in his life due to his physical appearence. The encounter with Punk music gradually takes him over to a new phase in his life along with his hopes and dreams.

Another innovation that took over my mind was called vinylerecoder. This tool allows you to record your own music onto vinyls. The pricing is not reasonable yet for many of us to afford it at this point. However, this is the sign of the future innovation that one day, it is possible for us to record our own vinyl at home for distribution.

Last, but not least, while I was chilling with my co-workers today, I found members from Cincinnati rock band, Foxy Shazam. Oh boy, I freaked out. I talked to the singer, Eric and other members and they were one of the nicest bands that I've spoken with. They are playing 3 shows today and I will be there for a show review. Watch out for my review tomorrow!!!

CMW pick: The Jefferson

It is such a privilege to be in town during Canada Music Week as it invites international artists from all over the world to taste something that we do not have an opportunity to taste.

This year, we are welcoming Sydney's alternative rock band, The Jefferson. The band recently released a debut album, Safe Return To Earth, and two songs off the album, Running and Superstar are drawing attention in their native land. Their melodic swings and catchy harmonies captures a positive vibe.

They are going to be playing plenty of shows during CMW across the city. So what's your excuse not to see them?

Arts & Crafts: SXSW free sampler

Arts & Crafts have been one of the most well-known music management companies in Canada, while embracing great native bands, including Broken Social Scene, Zeus, The Darcys and many more. However, when it comes to Austin, TX for the world scale music festival, their fame might fall behind the shadow of major rivals.

What we all know as Canadians that A&C has the power to take over the scene with very unique and talented artists. To have a taste of them, the team has put together a free sampler for you to enjoy a bit of  each band.
