The Black keys covers Buddy Holly's 'Dearest'

Rave On Buddy HollyMy latest CD purchase has proven to be a great success! A phenomenal tribute album of the legendary singer, Buddy Holly, that features today's top artists: Modest Mouse, My Morning Jacket, Cee Lo Green, Paul McCartney and more. This album epitomizes the essence of tribute albums: to embrace unforgettable music across the generations.

My favourite tune on the disc is 'Dearest' covered by the Black Keys.  The duo has done an outstanding job of unveiling an emotional ballad supported by a subtle, yet strong voice.  Here's a great video i discovered on YouTube. I virtually high-five ( so-called 'Wi-Five') the editor for doing such a great job.

The Strokes released a new video of ' Taken for a Fool'

AnglesThe NYC indie giant, the Strokes, unveiled a new music video, 'Taken For A Fool', from their latest album. 'Angles.' I have never seen the front man, Julian Casablancas, showing so many facial expressions before- which I found very odd. The below is the  video! Enjoy!

Edgefest: Kanae's Pick-Sandman Viper Command

This year's lineup for Edgefest is seriously very impressive. When I first saw the lineup, I almost fainted from sheer excitement! Tokyo Police Club, Arkells, Dinosaur Bones, The Sheepdogs, and more will all be on the bill. Unfortunately though; I have a previous engagement to attend - so I have to miss this mind-blowing lineup. (You can totally see tears on my cheeks!)

If you are lucky to go to the festival, make sure to check out Sandman Viper Command. The Burlington rock band has been my 'stuck tune syndrome' since the AudioBlood rooftop party during NXNE. When I first heard them, I felt as if I found a treasure after a long treasure hunt. Their youth is mirrored in their tracks with alluring guitar riffs.

The quintet is set to release their new 7-inch, called ' Rough Love.' I love how the verses transition between each other - It starts off with a simple and slow guitar chorus with wistful chorus. Then the tune speeds up with  enticing guitar solo- I found it rather addictive than just 'being enticed.'

Here is a video from their performance at Sonic Boom. Check it out. Let me know what you think about this year's Edgefest!!!
